First, a HUGE congratulations to the Woodland Park MIDDLE School Jazz Band who performed at the Colorado Music Educators Association (CMEA) Conference this weekend. They were the ONLY Middle school jazz band in the entire state to be selected to perform at the state conference! Mr. Critchlow and the students did an AMAZING job! They also had a guest conductor who happened to be the composer of 3 out of the 6 songs they performed and they also brought in former WPSD student Cory Swift to play the featured trumpet part on one of the charts! Cory is now a sophomore at the University of Northern Colorado, studying Jazz Performance!
For those of you that came to the performance, I thank you and I am sure Mr. Critchlow also is VERY appreciative of your attendance!
Second, the WPHS Winter Guard placed FIRST at the Vista Ridge Winter Guard Competition this Saturday! This is a HUGE step in the right direction for the program. Previously, the winter guard has never placed higher than 2nd to LAST. This year seems to have everything being put together quite nicely for a magical season! The members are very, VERY excited and please if you have a chance to congratulate them, they would appreciate it very much!
Thanks!
